Holidays are behind us, the New Years is ahead, and Asseco Arka Gdynia will face off against King Szczecin this Friday, 28th of December in the Energa Basket Liga.

The hosts are led against the Lithuanian coach Mindaugas Budzinauskas, with a score of 5 wins and 6 losses. In the last three matches, the "Sea Wolves" defeated TBC Start Lublin (80:71), while loosing to Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra (89:96) and BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wlkp (76:86).

Przemysław Frasunkiewicz's team enjoy a better balance of 2 losses against 11 wins and are third in the league table. In December alone, Asseco defeated: Polpharma Starogard Gdański (104:100), TBV Start Lublin (83:78), BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wlkp (86:73) and AZS Koszalin (77:72). Gdynia are on a roll.

"Kings" are betting on a Lithuanian-Polish mix in their roster. Five first shooters are from one of those two countries, with five in total enjoing a double digit average per match. At the head of the offensive is the universal Polish forward Paweł Kikowski (15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals), followed by hailing from Luthiania, Tauras Jogela (14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assissts). Both are supported by two playmakers, the talented Polish Jakub Schenk (10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 steals) and an older Lithuanian Martynas Paliukenas (10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals). As per tradition, the painted zone will be handeled by Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (10.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 blocks) and Polish forward Łukasz Diduszko (8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals). The roster also includes the Latvian Kaspars Vecvagars (7.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists) and US center Darrell Harris (6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds).

Szczecin plays a fast, teamwork based basketball, with a strong, deep rotation. "King's" players excell at rebounds and overtaking the ball, while falling behind Arka under the baskets and in three point shots. Asseco is best when attempting complex offensives, with a lot of shooting options for the yellow-and-blue's leaders. Additional high passes allow for some room for the border players and serve to weaken the enemy defense.

We are up for an interesting match, against a rival with a big potential. Let's hope for the best and belive in victory. We are Asseco!
