On 6th of January, 2019, during the Epiphany, Asseco Arka Gdynia will play an importan away match of the Energa Basket Liga. Boosted by their last win in Tricity, the yellow-and-blues are off to Toruń to face off against Polski Cukier.

The teams are separated in the table only by a single place. Asseco is the runner up (11-2), while "Cukierek" (10-3) is one step below. Lead by a Slovenian Dejan Mihevc, Toruń won their first new year's game, defeating BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wlkp (87:70). Coach Przemysław Frasunkiewicz and his players have also came into the 2019 with a win against Trefl Sopot (89:84).

The "Gingerbreads" play a balanced, team based basketball, with a good defense and tactical iron discipline. The main characters of the rotations are the US play maker Rob Lowery (12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.5 steals), the Senegalese center Cheikhi Mbodji (12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 2.0 blocks) and two Polish, Aaron Cel (14.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists) and Karol Gruszecki (11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals). The support is provided by Tomasz Śnieg (9.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.1 steals), while the painted zone is handeled by Krzysztof Sulima (7.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists), with additional points scored by the US Michael Umeh (14.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists) and the Polish forward Bartosz Diduszko (7.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists).

Both teams are in good form and are similar in the statistics. Gdynia is above by two points, and scoring an average of one point more than Polski Cukier, while being slightly below in assists and blocks.

The offensive potential on both sides guarantees a great match, which we invite you to watch on Sunday 6th of January 2019. Also available on Polsat Sport, beginning at 12:30.
