From one game to the next, Asseco Arka Gdynia represents better, more mature basketball each time, outplaying one rival after another. The yellow-and-blues are off to Warsaw to continue their winning streak in the Energa Basket Liga this Sunday, 3rd of February, at the Legia capital.

In Asseco's favor is their first win at Gdynia Arena (76:69) and the last roster update in the form of an US short forward Marcus Ginyard. Unfortunately, the yellow-and-blues have been stricken by bad luck, as Krzysztof Szubarga, team's captain, is unable to play for the next six weeks.

Legia is led by the Macedonian Tane Spasev, who has had a decent performance (8). Warsaw, in their 17 league matches, have won 9 times, and lost 8 times. In January, the "Legionnaires" have managed two very valuable wins, defeating Polpharma Starogard Gdański (91:76) and TBV Start Lublin (83:78) and three painful losses against Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra (59:76), GTK Gliwice (71:86) and recently against BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski (62:84).

Arka and head coach Przemysław Frasunkiewcz have had a great season with a win-loss balance 14-3, and are between the 1 and 3 positions in the table. The yellow-and-blues have defeated Anwil Włocławek (83:66), and recently, HydroTruck Radom (100:73).

The greates strength of the host team are the border players. The main shooters are: Omar Prewitt (18.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals), Jakub Karolak (13.6 points, 1.6 assists), Michał Kołodziej (9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists), and playmaker Sebastian Kowalczyk (11.0 points, 4.5 assists, 1.1 steals) and the UK replacement Mo Soulade (7.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals). The team is rounded out by two offensive players, the Russian center Rusłan Patiejew (7.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 blocks) and hailing from Australia Keanu Pinder (3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds).

Legia plays fast, while maintaining a good defense, but has troubles in the attack, gathering points mainly due to indivudal actions. Arka's advantage lays in its offensive potential, the height of its players and teamwork.

In summary, Gdynia has more of an overal potential, but the win is up for grabs, and the league has proven to be suprising. We'll have to see how things go this Sunday. Let's keep fingers crossed and believe in the yellow-and-blue win. We are Asseco!
