![]() Fot.: Szymon Gorczyca Asseco Arka Gdynia crossed 700 km to the south of Poland in order to play against the last in the table Miasto Szkła Krosno in an away match of Energa Basket Liga.Gdynia, while suffering from a lot of injuries, put up a fight and defeated the rivals 96:72. The first point of the yellow-and-blues were shot by James Florence (14 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals), but was quickly followed up by Deividas Dulkys (20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists). Dulkys was the first rifle of Asseco with his 20 points total. The Lithuanian player showed great offensive form, along with his incredible work in the defense. The guests dominated the court, gathering more points from minute to minute. Marcus Ginyard (18 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal) joined the fun, pulling the highest eval 22 and the highest +/- ratio 29, while Dariusz Wyka (6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks) devied and conquered under the hoops. The first 10 minutes the yellow-and-blues finished with a high advantage of 31:18. The following quarter was a steady march by Arka and gathering new tens of points of advantage. In the second quarter, the most active were Jakub Garbacz (8 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals), dominating in the painted zone Adam Łapeta (15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks) and leading the Asseco game, Marcel Ponitka (15 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal). Worthy of note is the maturity of the young playe maker, who in his 32 minutes, gathered 8 assists and only 2 losses. That lead ot the 20 points advantage, and after a small dive, the quarter was ended 20:14 for Asseco (51:32 before the break). The rest was not enough to change the situation in the court, Gdynia was like a storm, while the hosts seemed devoid of faith in victory. Despite that, Krosno managed a sudden rush, which resulted in a 24:22 win of the third quarter. The last 10 minutes saw a tightening of ranks among Gdynia. Ginyard and Dulkys signalled the yellow-and-blues attack, and were joined by Wyka and Ponitka. 3 minutes before the end, Wyka dunked and thus managed a 30 point advantage for the yellow-and-blues (31), with Florence shooting from behind the bend and thus managing the highest 32 point lead by Asseco. After such a strong hit, Arka let up some, and overall won the match defeating Miasto Szkła Krosno 96:72. Dominating the hoops (48 - 36 in rebounds), teamwork (22 - 16 in assists) and a sudden assaulty (31 - 13 in points) are keys of todays victory, with only a minor flaw of the 13 points of loss. Now, a short break for the Suzuki Puchar Polski (first match against Anwil on Friday the 15th of February), and three weeks from now, on March the 3rd, a strong rival - MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza.
