The strength of youth
The idea to promote and develop young talent in cooperation with the City of Gdynia started yielding fruit, even bigger so then what was foreseen. Asseco Gdynia Junior and Asseco Kids, the child and youth focused projects developed immensely.
The team underwent major changes. David Dedka, a long time head coach, was replaced with the young, 38 year old Macedonian coach Tane Spasev. Spasev led Asseco's reserves to a silver medal in the Polish U-20, and now had a chance to continue his work in the senior basketball.
This season saw a lot of ups and downs, as great performances were often followed by ones which should be never mentioned. After a great start and building up expectations, a sudden stop occurred. Rivals worked out the rather small rotation of our team and respond appropriately. The team's attitude is worthy of fan respect however - We are Asseco! becomes a motto.
The yellow-and-blues advance to the TBL playoffs with a 17-15 balance, where they have met, for the fourth time in a row, Stelmet BC Zielona Góra, the current Polish Champion. Gdynia leaves the playoffs without a single win. The successes of the youths do, however, give hope that a stronger team will soon be in play.
