The legend rises with two silvers
It was the first year of play for the club legend: Goran Jagodnik. His shirt hangs at the Gdynia Arena to this day. His work for the team cannot be overstated. Other names in the team at that time were equally as impressive.
It showed on the court. Prokom Trefl usually demolished it's oponnents, garnering multiple 100 point scores per match. In the regular season the team lost only two matches, with a 18 win streak to their name at the same time.
On the European front, Prokom reached the finale of the FIBA Champion's Cup. There they faced off against the host - Aris Saloniki. Other than the determined Greeks, three hundred fans of Sopot bared witness. The crowd did not intimidate the away team. Six seconds before the end they were in a 83:81 lead. After a heroic ending and a still unexplained foul on Masiulis, Aris was victorious.
For the second time in a row, after the perfect 2002, Prokom Trefl left the court on their shield. As if that wasn't enough, they met heavy resistance in-country. As it was last season, Warsaw's Poloniści proved difficult. They one the first two matches at Sopot and were just a step from defeating the yellow-and-blacks. The team did retain their honor thanks to winning the three remaining games.
The finale brought a lot of excitement, but for the third time in a row, Prokom lost against Anwil Włocławek (2:4). The silver was gained, and the following years brought higher expectations…
