Although many of us see November as a time to enjoy Halloween, Asseco Arka Gdynia doesn't have the luxury of slowing down. This Saturday, 2nd of November at 17:30 at Gdynia Arena they will take on Ostrów Wielkopolski in the Energa Basket Liga.

BM Slam Stal has had a weak season beginning and has experienced 5 losses (15th place in the table). They have lost against Enea Astoria Bydgoszcz (88:04), Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra (72:78), HydroTruck Radom (74:80), MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza (82:88) and King Szczecin (71:96). These losses were reason enough for some coaching staff changes. Jacek Winnicki lost his position as head coach and the job was taken over by his coaching assistant Łukasz Majewski.

The yellow-and-blues are on the opposite side of that spectrum. Coach Przemysław Frasunkiewicz has led the team to victories in both the Polish Basketball League and in the 7DAYS EuroCup, with a 4:1 balance in the country, they occupy the 4th place in the table. Gdynia plays hard and fast, with their only stumbling block being GTK Gliwice (78:87).

The guests are under a lot of stress, but they remain a hard team and it is only a matter of time before they fall into rhythm again. The core of the offense are two forwards, Lithuanian Paulius Dambrauskas (17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists) and US playmaker Jay Threatt (13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.7 steals), supported by Przemysław Żołnierewicz (12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.0 steals).

Additional boost is provided by Daniel Szymkiewicz (9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals), Donte McGill (4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists) and an ex-Arka player Jakub Garbacz (9.0 points, 2.2 rebounds). Frontcourt is covered by a Serbian center Nikola Jevtović (6.8 points, 3.6 rebounds) and forward Jarosław Mokros (5.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists).

It seems that the guests do not enjoy the same potential as Asseco, which might result in a weakened frontcourt. Gdynia should be mindful to not underestimate their oponnent, however. We will find out this Saturday, 2nd of November at 17:30. Please feel invited to Gdynia Arena. We are Asseco!
