Christmas are upon us, a time of rest and family, but Asseco Arka Gdynia has two important tasks before they can enjoy the holidays. First is the match on Wednesday, 18th of December, against Galatasaray Doga Sigort Istanbul, which will allow the advancement further into the 7DAYS EuroCup. The second one is a league match against King Szczecin at Gdynia Arena.

The Turks are led by coach Ertugrul Erdogan, who despite not enjoying the best of luck (5-4) are still the runner up leaders of the D group and will most definitely advance into the next round.

Przemysaw Frasunkiewicz and his team have only 3 wins to their name, which makes them the lowest team in the table. This season has been somewhat mixed for Arka.

Galatasaray is a known team on the European circuit. The current Instanbul team has underwent a minor crysis, but are still pretty tough. There are a lot of US players in the team. Aaron Harrison (16.2 points, 3 rebounds, 3.4 assists) is the first thrower of the team, followed up by Greg Whittington (13.4 points, 7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.5 steals) and center Zach Auguste (12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1 assist, 1.1 steals).

Additional long-range support is provided by Tai Webster (8.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists) and Lazeric Jones (7.9 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists) and two Turkish players: Yigit Arslan (6.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists) and Goksenin Koksal (5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals).

In their first match at Gdynia Arena, the yellow-and-blues almost pulled through, but ultimately lost 78:83. Let's hope this time will be different, keep our fingers crossed and remember that we are Asseco!
