Another difficult away match ahead of Gdynia. This Saturday the yellow-and-blues will take on the bronze medal champ from last season - Anwil. Please feel invited to view the match at Emocje TV at 19:30.
Anwil play is a mix bag this season. They have defeated Ostrow Wielkopolski (90:71) and Warsaw (86:78), only to lose to MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (98:101) and PGE Spojnia Stargard (84:96). The Rottweilers are 12th in the table with a 5-7 win-loss balance. Changes to the rotation and coaching staff might have been the reason for such a turn of events. Two foreign players have left: Tre Bussey and Deishuan Booker, who was the best offensive player in the league. After a lousy season start, coach Dejan Mihevc has been fired. Similarly as with our previous rival - PGE Spojnia Stargard - the coaching chair has been taken by the assistant - Marci Wozniak.
Looking at the statistics of our opponents, Ivan Almeid (21.4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) is the most noteworthy. The Capo Verdenian player returned to the club in September, causing a wave of enthusiasm among the fans. The popular "El Condor" made quite a change to the team. In the October derby, the 31 year old has experienced an injury, making him unfit to play for a whole month. There is no doubt, however, that Almeid is the definite star of not only Anwil but the whole of the EBL. Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz will have a lot on his hands.
Other well performing players from abroad are: Rotnei Clarke (15.2 points, 4.2 assists, 1.6 steals), Ivica Radic (12.9 points, 9.8 rebounds - best in the league) and Mckenzie Moore (10.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists). Team captain Walerij Lichodiej does his best as well. A good performing Polish is Przemyslaw Zamojski, why will not be playing due to hand injury.
Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz and his team must avoid simple mistakes and being predictable, as Anwil notes 9 steals per match, which is the second best score after Zastal Enea BC Zielona Gora. Also the reason why Rottweilers garner so much points - an average of 84.5.
There are a lot of emotions associated with the duels between the yellow-and-blues and Wloclawek. Many still remember the fierce half-finals in the 2018/2019 season. Anwil proved better at that time, even though they have lost the initial two matches. Our rivals have also been victorious in the previous season, where they won at our own court 83:65.
The match will be available for viewing at 19:30 through Emocje TV. The first 3963 people who long in with the "ANWIL" password will watch the match for free.
