Asseco Arka Gdynia took on Stelment Enea BC Zielona Góra at Gdynia Arena. The yellow-and-blues had a difficult task of making up 18 points lost in the away match in order to gain the bronze medal. Gdynia remained concentrated, played aggressively and with teamwork, defeating Stelmet (105:80), thus winning the two games and gaining the third place in the Energa Basket Liga of 2018/2019. We congratulate the victor and thank both teams for a great show.

The score was opened up by Deividas Dulkys (17 points, 5 rebounds). The Lithuanian sniper defended well, while also providing some good throws. A good game was also had by Jakub Garbacz (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal). Despite those successes, Arka was not able to gain a big advantage, with the score remaining at a draw. The first thrower of yellow-and-blues, James Florence (33 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 2 steals) joined the fray. In the last minutes of the first quarter, Krzysztof Szubarga (17 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals) added some points. Szubi scored 6 points one after another, and the quarter ended with Stelmet at a minimal advantage 22:20.

Arka was warming up. Garbacz opened the scoring in the third quarter. Marcus Ginyard (10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist) became activewith some points added by Mikołaj Witliński (4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal) and Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists). Arka was gearing up, with Szubi ruling over the court. Gdynia continued their teamwork, and had a lot of fighting spirit. Dulkys's dunk and a three pointer by Garbacz reinforced Asseco's lead. The hosts were in the lead 51:40 by the break. It seemed that the guests were loosing morale.

After the break, Arka continued increasing the advantage. Jimmy led the attack, supported by Dariusz Wyka (12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block) and Szubarga. Despite such good throws, Stelmet managed tu regain some losses, loosing only by three points in the 23rd minute (49:55). Wyka reacted, putting a three point throw, soon joined by Ginyard and Dulkys, who threw 5 points. The third quarter was closed with 7 points delivered by Florence. The third part of the game was concluded with 74:57 for Arka.

The last quarter saw a definitive lead for Gdynia. Stelmet lost their will to fight and could not find a way to Asseco's basket. Gdynia, meanwhile, was giving their best, scoring one point after another. Wyka was doing his best, as did Florence, with Szubi overseeing the whole ordeal. Arka was increasing their advantage minute to minute, which ended with their win against Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra (105:80).

A great show with a return by the yellow-and-blues to form, loud cheering from the crowd and Szubi remaining the heart of the team. We have the bronze medal and we can enjoy the achievment. We thank the players and coaches for their hard work. Faith, willpower, heart and teamwork are what makes Asseco!
