Asseco Arka Gdynia has begun it's league play with an away match to Stargard. Gdynia's play was team focused, efficient and gave no chance to the host, PGE Spójnia, who lost 76:65. Josh Bostic had a good match (23 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal), supported by Phil Greene (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal) and Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (9 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal). Krzysztof Szubarga (7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) scored the most assists, with Ben Emelogu (6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists) excelling at rebounds.

The yellow-and-blues put the pressure on early. Bostic opened the scoring, followed up by Adam Hrycaniuk (6 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal) with Greene. Arka was on a roll, while Stargard was unable to react. The guests had a great aim from behind the bend. Leyton Hammonds (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals) opened up, followed by Emelogu, Szubarga and Grzegorz Kamiński (3 points, 1 rebounds). At the end of the quarter, Asseco was in a 23:11 lead.

The following quarters looked very much the same. The yellow-and-blues controlled the match, not allowing Spójnia to fall into a rhythm. In the second quarter, Gdynia layed off a bit, but a pair of three pointers from Wołoszyn brought the matters back on track.

After a break, Asseco begun the barrage from behind the bend once more. Bostic aimed three pointers three times in a row, followed up by Szubarga and Emelogu. Their great aim allowed the match to continue on with a 61:45 at the end of the third quarter.

The last 10 minutes were an attempt by the hosts to regain some losses. Spójnia ttacked fiercly, lowering the disadvantage down to 7 points. Bostic, Greene and Wołoszyn remained at their posts. Three throws later, Arka jumped ahead 9 points and won the whole match 76:65.

Asseco had a good match, even though the oponnent did not provide a big challenge. It seems that coach Przemysław Frasunkiewicz is attempting to balance the team, in order to create a sense of threat from every direction.

Next up is the 7DAYS EuroCup, time to leave for Oldenburg and the EVE Baskets.
