Asseco Arka Gdynia was host to anothe Energa Basket Liga match at Gdynia Arena - this time against Trefl Sopot. The Tricity derby gathered a host of a crowd, and as was expected, it showed in the teams' performance.

The match was slow, and despite the yellow-and-blues being in the lead for almost 30 minutes, the advantage was not significant. At the beginning of the last quarter, the guests attacked and it seemed that the tide was turning. Arka counter attacked, ultimately winning the last 10 minutes 31:10 and the overall match 87:66.

As it often happend, Josh Bostic was the prime player (24 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block), but the play was lead by Asseco team captain Krzysztof Szubarga (8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), with important points added by Ben Emelogu (15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal) and Leyton Hammonds (13 points, 5 rebounds).

Josh Bostic initiated Gdynia's score, followed up by a three pointer from Phil Greene (12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal), Emelogu and Dariusz Wyka (5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists). Sopot's answer was swift. Trefl attacked and 2 minutes before the end of the first quarter, were in the lead 20:18. A moment later, Wyka threw in a three point shot which lead Arka to an advantage, further capitalized by Greene and Szubarga, which allowed Arka to win the first quarter 28:22.

The yellow-and-blues kept on playing, not allowing the score to slip from them for quite some time. Three point throws were scored by Bostic and Szubarga, with the "Admiral" performing deadly pick'n'rolls with Adam Hrycaniuk (8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist). The popular Beast was fighting fiercly against the oponnent's tall players, perfectly screening his team members.

Little changed after the break. Arka was in the lead, but Trefl was not letting up. Five minutes before the end of the third quarter, the yellow-and-blacks managed a 46:46 tie. The lead kept on changing, but ultimately the fourth quarter was started 56:56.

Sopot went in hard in the last phase of the match, taking the 63:58 lead after just about 3 minutes. Hrycaniuk and Hammonds countered, evening the score out at first, and taking the lead later. Arka was on a roll, with Bostic scoring a three pointer, followed up by Hammonds and Emelogu. Ultimately, Asseco Arka Gdynia saw a 87:66 victory.

A nice game with an entertaining finale on the side of the hosts, and two heroes whose performance carried the team forward - Emelogu and Hammonds.
