The yellow-and-blues continue their effective performance in the 7DAYS EuroCup. Asseco Arka Gdynia went to the Apennine Peninsula and faced off against Dolomiti Energia Trento. Gdynia's teamwork and wisdom allowed them to win 91:80.
The first quarter saw a small advantage on the side of Dolomiti. Arka attacked and counter attacked, but was unable to increase their advantage. Leyton Hammonds (15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) and Devonte Upson (14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) showed their skills and remained strong points of Gdynia's team up till the very end. In the fifth minute, Upson's throw allowed Arka to go ahead 9:8, but ultimately the quarter ended with them losing 16:19.
The next quarter saw a definite boost on the side of the guests. Amani Moore (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist) started scoring, Adam Hrycaniuk (7 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal) added additional ones, but the true scorer of Arka was Ben Emelogu (17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal). The young US defended scored three three-pointers in a crucial moment, leading Arka to a strong advantage (28:13). Emelogu's performance inspired the yellow-and-blues, who minute by minute increased their score over the hosts. The second quarter was won by a long stretch (28:13), and Arka left for the break with 12 points over the hosts (44:32).
The game evened out in the third quarter, but the guests were still in control. Krzysztof Szubarga (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) was leading the team, supported by Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (11 points, 8 assists). The end of the third quarter became somewhat erratic, but luck was on Asseco's side and they came through. After 30 minutes, Gdynia was well ahead (71:57).
The last quarter saw Arka keeping their distance from Dolomiti. Szubarga was excelling at that, scoring three pointers left and right. Upson, Hammonds and Hrycaniuk worked under the opponents basket, and Wołoszyn fought for every ball. Four minutes before the end, Josh Bostic scored a three pointer (6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists) and closed the match for coach Brienza's team. Asseco Arka Gdynia scored a third 7DAYS EuroCup win against Dolomiti Energia Trento 91:80.
