Last evening's match saw a lot of excitement when Asseco Arka Gdynia played yet another 7DAYS EuroCup match. The yellow-and-blues took on the Turkish Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul at Gdynia Arena. Although the guests dominated through most of the match, Arka did manage to took the lead in the third quarter. Sadly, that was not enough and Gdynia has lost against the guests (78:83).

From the first minutes Galatasaray was on the warpath. Josh Bostic (33 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals) and Devonte Upson (7points, 3 rebounds, as well as Ben Emelogu (6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) did score for Arka, but that was not enough. Arka was loosing 5:18 after the first 4 minutes, overall loosing the first quarter 16:27.

Turks pressed on. Bostic and Emelogu tried fighting back, but scoring proved a challenge. Three minutes before the break Galatasaray managed a 16 point advantage. Krzysztof Szubarga's (7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) throws lowered that distance between the teams, but Arka was loosing fast (28:41).

THe third quarter was the best for Asseco. The yellow-and-blues attacked and manage to lower the guest's advantage. Leyton Hammonds (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), while Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steal) remained active. After Hammond's scoring, Gdynia managed a small advantage in the 28th minute (50:49), which after two minutes increased to 7 points (59:52).

Things seemed to be going back on track. The Turks, however, did not let up and intensified their game. Defense was tightened and three point shots were delivered one by one (50%). Bostic, Hammonds and Wołoszyn responded in kind, but Galatasaray was faster and in the 35st minute a tie was hit (68:68). That pushed Gdynia off balance. Scoring stopped and big mistakes were made. In the end, Turkey won 83:78.

Now some well earned rest and this Saturday, 2nd of November at 17:30, Gdynia Arena will see another Energa Basket Liga match, this time against BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski.
