Asseco Arka Gdynia went away to the Spanish Malaga for a 7DAYS EuroCup match against Unicaja to try and turn the tide of bad luck and equally bad play, but it was not meant to be. Gdynia's players were tired, suffered from individual play and could not withstand the rival's offensive.

Leyton Hammonds (12 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal) initiated the scoring for the yellow-and-blues. The first minutes did not make it apparent that Gdynia was on a course to defeat, the beginning 8 minutes were quite even. Hammonds was joined by Devonte Upson (15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block), and three additional points were added by Krzysztof Szubarga (4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals). In the 7th minute Asseco was in a 12:11 lead. It was the turning point in the game. Gdynia managed to score in the first quarter additional 5 points thanks to free throws by Upson, Adam Hrycaniuk (5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) and Armani Moore (3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal) and Hamonnds' well aimed throw, whereas the hosts increased their advantage by 11 points and won that part of the match 22:14.

The second quarter did not see any improvments. Gdynia had troubles in gaining favorable positions. First points were garnered by Upson via free throws. The yellow-and-blues were suffering. A two pointer and a personal shot were added by Josh Bostic (7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assistsm 2 steals), but that was not enough. Asseco was crashing against Unicaja's defense and could not find their way to the oponnent's basket. The break saw the score 44:31 for the Spaniards.

There was still some hope that the break would give the yellow-and-blues the respite needed to push through. Some points were added by Bostic, Upson and Hammonds, but those were the result of individual actions and momentary boosts. Malaga let up somewhat, became distracted. Both sides of the court saw numerous losses, peculiar actions and errors. The third quarter (18:17) was won by Asseco, but the hosts were still in the lead (63:49).

The last 10 minutes saw the match become completely defenseless. Gdynia was broken. A well aimed three pointer was delivered by Grzegorz Kamiński (3 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal) but that was it. Asseco Arka Gdynia lost against Malaga Unicaja 91:69.

A hard match was to be expected, but not the weak posture of the yellow-and-blues. The 43, 32 and 14 losses are bad, especially so that the Spaniards weren't at their top shape (27% in 3 point throws) as well as 11 losses.

A quick diagnoses is required, since on the 17th of November the match against Legia Warszawa at Gdynia Arena is up. Fingers crossed, we are always Asseco!
