Asseco Arka Gdynia players have came back after 11 days of break to the Energa Basket Liga and in style, by defeating HydroTruck Radom 85:68.
The yellow-and-blues seemed well rested, utilized teamwork, played fast and true, in accordance with our expectations.
Arka's best thrower, Josh Bostic (19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) played a great match. The US Sniper cooperated with his team, and when it appeared to be in need of support, he took on the burden and straightened the team out.
The scoring was opened up by Leyton Hammonds (10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block), followed up by Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist) with a three point throw. After that it was Devonte Upson (10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks) who got to work, and who dominated in the painted zone. After 6 points delivered by Krzysztof Szubarga (14 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists) and Bostics hits, as well as Ben Emelogu's (8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist), the yellow-and-blues were in the lead and won the first quarter 24:16.
The next quarter saw the hosts attempting an offensive. Radom lowered their losses to only two points, and it seemed that they will keep the pressure on. Gdynia reacted well, however, by tightening their defense and Bostic's 5 quickly delivered points. The score was 29:22 for the hosts and HydroTruck seemed to loose its focus. The hosts were ultimately defeated by Szubarga-Emelogu duo. The first scored two three pointers in rapid succession, while the second three 6 points in addition to that. After that, Hammonds and Armani Moore (12 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block) score three pointers and Asseco Arka Gdynia left for the break with 46:34.
The second half saw Gdynia maintain their high results. Bostic and Moore remained active, with Hammonds and Wołoszyn scoring three pointers left and right.
The last 10 minutes saw the guests utterly control the situation. Grzegorz Kamiński and Wojciech Czerlonko (3 points) entered, while Radom abbandoned any hopes of winning. The yellow-and-blues kept up their winning score throught he whole 4th quarter, between 10 and 15 points, and in the end Asseco Arka Gdynia defeated HydroTruck Radom 85:68.
