Asseco Arka Gdynia has ended their play in the 7DAYS EuroCup today. Gdynia has lost to the runner up leader of the D group, Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul, 73:92. The yellow-and-blues had a good start and managed to take the lead in the opening minutes. The hosts, however, are a tough, experienced team which quickly regained balance and ultimately won the next two quarter 29:16 and 27:17.

The first minutes belong to Josh Bostic (10 points, 1 rebound) and Leyton Hammonds (12 points, 4 rebounds). The second one especially was responsible for Asseco taking the lead, quickly garnering 6 points. Devonte Upson (9 points, 7 rebounds) scored another 2 points, which was the last time that Arka was in the lead this evening. The Turks attacked and did not allow Gdynia for many more successful throws. Galtasaray made the guests camp out after every point gatherd, whereas they themselves rapidly increased the advantage. Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (9 points, 2 assists), Bostic and Ben Emelogu (9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) scored, but it was not enough and the hosts won the first quarter 29:16.

The next quarter did not saw a major change for Arka. Adam Hrycaniuk (6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal) joined the fight, as did Armani Moore (15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks) and Krzysztof Szubarga (2 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, 1 steal), but each point saw a response of the hosts double that. Gdynia left for the break loosing 33:56.

Galatasaray let up somewhat after the break, but the Turks were definitely still in control. Moore was active, Upson fought under the baskets, Wołoszyn was throwing from beyond the bend, but those did not pose a major threat to the hosts. The advantage of the Turks was always somewhere around 20 points, reaching 24 in the 26th minute. The yellow-and-blues won this quarter 19:17, while still overall loosing 52:73 at that point.

The last 10 minutes did not change much. Tall players joined the game: Hrycaniuk, Upson and Hammonds, but that did not change much. Grzegorz Kamiński (1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal) and Wojciech Czerlonko also saw some play, when both teams seemed to be simply waiting for the end. Asseco Arka Gdynia lost to Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul 73:92.

The yellow and blues lost to the hosts, being overtaken in rebounds 35 to 42, loosing 19 balls, 11 directly to the Turkish team. Arka is leaving the 7DAYS EuroCup and will now be able to concentrate on the Energa Basket Liga. The closest match is this Sunday, 22nd of December at Gdynia Arena against King Szczecin.
