Today was a very exciting match of the Energa Basket Liga at Gdynia Arena, where Arka Gdynia took on King Szczecin. It was a very even match with a lot of twists, with the host ultimately winning 83:82.

The best thrower of the yellow-and-blues was Josh Bostic (23 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists), with great support provided by team captain Krzysztof Szubarga (9 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists).

Bostic began scoring for Asseco and it was the US player who was the most active in the initial game. Subsequen minutes saw a slight advantage of the guests. Arka attacked, but Szczecin was defending well, not allowing for many situation. Leyton Hammonds (13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks) gave a signal in the 5th minute, supported by Bostic, while Devonte Upson (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 block) managed to push for a 13:13 tie. Gdynia catched wind in their sail - 6 points were scored by Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), whereas Dariusz Wyka (14 points, 2 rebounds) settled the score 25:19 for the hosts.

The second quarter saw hard fighting on the side of Szczecin. Hammonds and Szubarga scored from beyond the bend, Ben Emelogu (2 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals) defended well, and Arka overall pushed back against the attack. In the 14th minute, King managed to tie up the score and even get some advantage. Bostic, Emelogu and Hammonds attempted counterattacks, but the defense was tight and nothing came of it. Arka was loosing 38:47 at break time.

After coming back on court, the hosts began scoring back - hard. The match became very physical, with a fight normally reserved for the playoffs. Adam Hrycaniuk (9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist) began scoring, but Dariusz Wyka (14 points, 2 rebounds) was the definite king of this part of the game. "Daro" started scoring in the 26th minute, managing a 50:50 tie and finished with 3 x 3 pointer a minute from the 3rd quarter's end. Wyka played for only 11 minutes and scored 14 points with a 100% accuracy. Asseco took back the lead and began the 4th quarter 63:61.

The last 10 minutes was fight. Both teams attacked, and the lead kept changing. Hammonds and Wołoszyn played very well, Hrycaniuk fought under the baskets, but the score was always up in the air. A minute before the end, Szubarga scored two free throws. Asseco led 83:82. Kings did not manage to score and ultimately, Asseco Arka Gdynia won against King Szczecin 83:82 at Gdynia Arena.

High accuracy and a lot of losses (12) were the main attributes of Arka today. On the 26th of December, an away match to Anwil Włocławek awaits.
