Second day of Christmas has become a time of an Energa Basket Liga match, when Anwill took on Asseco Arka Gdynia at Włocławek. After an even and fierce first half the hosts were in a minimal 46:41 lead and it seemed that we still have a solid chance. However, the second half showed otherwise, as the yellow-and-blues fell off and got dominated by Wrocław, which resulted in a 65:83 final score.

Włocławek is hard territory for any PLK team. Asseco came in hard from the very beginning, trying to take the initiative. The hosts did not fall for that and the score ended up pretty even for the majority of the first half. In the first quarter, Arka's most active players were Leyton Hammonds (12 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal), Josh Bostic (18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Ben Emelogu (15 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal). In the 8th minute, Devonte Upson (6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block) delivered a dunk and turned the score 19:17 for the guests, but the Rottweilers replied in kind and a tie (19:19) ended the first quarter.

The next quarter saw the yellow-and-blues intensified the attack. Bartłomiej Wołoszyn (3 points, 1 rebounds, 2 assists) and Bostic threw in a three pointer each, allowing Gdynia a 30:23 lead in the 14th minute. The hosts tried stopping Arka, which inspired Bostic and Emelogu to score an additional 9 points. Anwil was not giving up, they tigtened their defenses and corrected their accuracy, stopping the guests alltogether. The score was 41:46 against Arka at the end of the second quarter.

The third quarter saw both teams stagger offensively. Gdynia scored barely 4 times, garnering 11 points, while Włocławek was better by only 2 points, which ended up with a 59:52 score for Anwil.

The last quarter belonged to Anwil; Asseco began scoring with Phil Greene IV (3 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists). Krzysztof Szubarga (6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) added some, but nothing could stop the hosts. Włocławek was more confident, assisted each other and were masters of positioning. Asseco was in shambles, which resulted in a loss against Anwil 65:83.

A lot of losses, problems with organizing the game and low accuracy when it came to 3 pointers were the biggest issues this evening. Next match is on the 6th of January, where Polpharma Starogard Gdański will be the oponnent.
