Evan an unexpected return of team captain Krzysztof Szubarga could not help our team in overcoming Enea Astoria Bydgoszcz, to whom Asseco Arka lost 73:103.

In November 2019, our players managed to win at Bydgoszcz 81:72. It was our only away match against "Asta" ever since they came back to the league top. Asseco went to Bydgoszcz hoping to secure their league position, especially since team captain Krzysztof Szubarga came back into the game. The 36 years old "Szubi" was forced to ride the bench due to his injury and has, in that time, remained as the assistant to coach Piotr Blechacz.

The beginning of the game did not go as planned. Two long range throws from Michal Chylinski quickly set the tone. Four points from Corey Sander and in 240 seconds we were losing 2:12. Our players moved to compensate. Mikolaj Witlinski scored twice, Filip Dylewicz added a three pointer. Our opponents matched up quickly and the first quarter ended with a 12 point difference: 26:14.

Bydgoszcz pushed forward. Artur Gronka and his team were extremely effective, especially in three point throws, 8 out of 13 which found their way into the hoop. Karlo Vragovic, Szubarga, Dylewicz and Adam Hrycaniuk were making attempts on their own, but that wasn't very effective. After two almost identical quarters, we went for the break with 52:29.

After the break both team were visibly relaxed. The hosts kept to their high advantage, utilizing steals and their high accuracy. Our team made way for the reserve players Mateusz Kaszowski and Michal Kolodziej. Bydgoszcz closed the third quarter with a very impressive three pointer from Jakub Niziol, which set them to 73:47.

We did not give up, but there was nothing to be done. Our team lost the ball too often or passed it into enemy hands. Whenever an opportunity arose for a throw, it was not capitalized on. We come back from Bydgoszcz with nothing - Asseco Arka lost to Enea Astoria 73:103. The hosts turned out to be better. The yellow-and-blues do not have much time to rest - this Friday they will take on PGE Spojnia Stargard at 19:30.
